Irregular plurals - Plurales irregulares

Hoy vamos a ver las reglas de los plurales irregulares más comunes:


* Normalmente cuando el nombre termina en -f , cambiamos esta letra por la v y añadimos -es:


half - halves (mitad - mitades)

wolf - wolves (lobo - lobos)

* Si termina en -fe, cambiamos la f por la v y añadimos -s:

life - lives (vida - vidas)

knife - knifes (cuchillo - cuchillos)

* Si termina en -o, añadimos -es:

tomato - tomatoes (tomate - tomates)

potato- potatoes (patata - patatas)

* Si termina en -on, lo cambiamos por -a:

phenomenon - phenomena (fenómeno - fenómenos)

* Si termina en -is lo cambiamos por -es:

crisis - crises (crisis - crisis)

* Si termina en -us lo cambiamos por -i:

cactus - cacti (cacto - cactos o cactus)

Otros plurales irregulares muy comunes son:

child - children (niño - niños)

foot - feet (pie - pies)

tooth - teeth (diente - dientes)

goose - geese (ganso - gansos)

man - men (hombre - hombres)

woman - women (mujer - mujeres)

mouse -  mice (ratón - ratones )

die - dice (dado - dados)

person - people (persona - personas /gente)

* Otros nombres no cambian:

sheep - sheep (oveja - ovejas )

deer - deer (ciervo - ciervos)

aircraft - aircraft (avión - aviones)

fish - fish (pez - peces) (a veces puede ser fishes, lo veremos en otra entrada)

** Como curiosidad, deciros que "masaje de pies" en inglés es FOOT MASSAGE y no "feet massage".
