Las Fallas is surely the loudest, most riotous and possibly the most hazardous festival in Europe. Valencia’s penchant for celebrating its patron saint – the Virgen de los Desamparados – with bonfires, burning effigies of politicians and celebrities, fireworks and enormous explosions is a deafening, but exhilarating experience.
