Un truquillo para no fallar más en la pronunciación del pasado del verbo comer "to eat".

Lo pronunciaremos como el número ocho (eight). Así de sencillo!


"Yesterday I ate ("eight") a huge pizza"


(Ayer me comí una pizza gigante)

¿Cómo se pronuncia "walk"?- Silent L-

El verbo andar "to walk" normalmente da problemas a los estudiantes en cuanto a su pronunciación.


¿Cómo se pronuncia esta palabra? Os dejo una pista para que ya no lo olvideis!

Exacto! No volveremos a pronunciar  la "L" bajo ningún concepto! (y esa "a" se convertirá en una "o").

Este concepto en inglés se llama la "Silent L". Son palabras en las que la letra L es muda.

Otros ejemplos: half , could, would, should, palm, almond, calm, talk, chalk, salmon.

Inglés para niños

Durante mi experiencia laboral he visto la gran diferencia que hay entre niños que empiezan a aprender inglés a edades tempranas (3-4 años) y los que empiezan más tarde (6-7 años).

Dependiendo de las capacidades y personalidad del niño podemos empezar a enseñarles este idioma que tanto les servirá en el futuro desde los 3 años (o antes) mediante juegos, canciones y dibujos.

Peppa Pig es un buen ejemplo para ello, si les ponemos estos dibujos en inglés desde el principio se acostumbrarán sin problemas e irán haciendo oído y aprendiendo vocabulario sin darse cuenta y divirtiéndose (que es lo más importante).

Próxima convocatoria B1 Valencia

Año bisiesto

Today it is the 29th of February which means that this is a LEAP YEAR.

Hoy es el 29 de febrero lo que quiere decir que estamos en un año bisiesto.

A year that is not a leap year is called "a common year".

A tradition says that in a leap year a woman can propose marriage to a man....so go for it!

Preposiciones de movimiento

Aprender las preposiciones en inglés es una ardua tarea, pero poco a poco hay que aprenderlas para que nuestro inglés suene más natural.

Hoy vamos a ver las "Prepositions of movement":

BY: by train, by car, by ship, by ferry, by boat, by plane

"We went to Liverpool by plane"
(Fuimos a Liverpool en avión)

A veces cambiamos la preposición cuando usamos "with, a, his, the, etc..."

Examples: It was very cold on the plane (hacía mucho frio en el avión)
                I saw her in a taxi (la ví en un taxi)
                He usually goes to school on his bike (normalmente va al colegio en bici)

OJO: Nunca diremos "by foot" NO!

Usaremos "on foot " YES!

" The car broke down and we had to go on foot"
"El coche se averió y tuvimos que ir andando/ a pie"

OJO (también):  in the car / on the bus

"I can't talk to you now because I am on the bus"
"No puedo hablar ahora porque estoy en el autobús"

" She decided to go in her car"
"Decidió ir en su coche" (de ella)

Dory Previn

Dory Previn is one of my favourite singers and she has died today.

Dory Previn, the US singer and composer who collaborated with former husband Andre on two Oscar-nominated songs, has died in Massachusetts at the age of 86.

Born Dorothy Veronica Langan in 1925, she began as a lyricist before finding success as a solo artist in the 1970s.
She married Andre Previn in 1959 and worked with him on the theme to 1967's Valley of the Dolls.
After he left her for Mia Farrow, she recorded such albums as On My Way to Where and Mythical Kings and Iguanas.
Award success came at last in 1983, when she received an Emmy for co-writing the theme song to TV show Two Of A Kind.
